NEWS AND EVENTS

We Read Them So You Don't Have To

Icarus Cartoon Poor Adolf - We So Misunderstood Him

Well we certainly didn't have long to wait. Having launched this section of the site with outstanding contributions from Nicholson Baker (Human Smoke) and Pat Buchanan (Churchill, Hitler and the Unnecessary War) we now have Nigel Knight contributing to the nonsense with Churchill: The Greatest Briton Unmasked.

For a review by Michael McMenamin please click here to go to the 'We read them...' page.

Coventry - The Myth Persists

Coventry Bombing  The Aftermath

"Would You Sacrifice a City to Win a War?"

The old myth that Churchill let Coventry burn to preserve secret intelligence dies hard and still lives on in a new play on BBC Radio 4. We offer our refutation.

We are also delighted to announce that Sir Martin Gilbert has offered to write us a definitive article aimed at laying this nonsense to rest once and for all.  We shall be publishing the article both here and in Finest Hour as soon as it is available.

Generational Chauvinism. When a real quote just won't do...

We have always considered that the rich legacy of Churchill's speeches and writings preclude the need to manufacture his quotations. It seems that The Times does not agree. For more information see Churchill in the News.
